Amber Newman is a Falmouth-based artist studying Marine and Natural History Photography. She works with subjects that overload the senses and explore humankind's complicated relationship with nature. Her provocative photography installs feelings of guilt and dread, providing a space for the audience to contemplate a need for change.
She is currently working on a project exploring the underwater soundscape and how anthropogenic noise affects marine mammals' wellbeing and communication.
Amber creates immersive soundscapes to destabilize the viewing experience while weaving scientific data and an archive of abstract imagery.
This project offers a peak into the sub-surface of the oceans and how the constant bombardment of droning human noise may well mirror the ecological concerns of the world on terra firma.
